For smaller systems, 10kW (50square meters of panels approx) can often be installed onto a 3 phase electrical supply without having to apply for approval in advance.
Larger systems will require approval of the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) which can take 6-8 weeks and may ristrict the system size that you are allowed.
Flat Roof Solar PV
On a flat roof this type of installation can be very efficient and is quick to install. If there is access to the roof, then this can at times be done without excessive scaffolding which reduces installation cost as well.
